17 JUN 2015 - "Square of Miracles" Tour

Discover the beauty of Piazza dei Miracoli beyond the Leaning Tower!

The Piazza dei Miracoli or "Square of Miracles", formally known as Piazza del Duomo or "Cathedral Square", is a wide walled area located in Pisa, recognized as an important center of European medieval art and one of the finest architectural complexes in the world. It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.

The name has given to the square after the First World War when Gabriele D'Annunzio in his work "Forse che sì, forse che no, 1910" cited it with these words: "The Ardea rotated over the sky of Christ, over the meadow of Miracles".

Meet the guide and after a brief introduction enjoy a delighting walk around its beautiful buildings which emerge as "miracles" from the green meadow: the Cathedral (inside visit), a triumph of the Pisan Romanesque style, the Baptistery (inside visit), enobled by Nicola Pisano's pulpit and with fabulous acoustics, the Monumental Cemetery (Graveyard) with beautiful Roman sarcophagi and XIV-XV century frescoes and the celebrated Leaning Tower, one of the wonders of the world!

At the end proceed your evening with a dinner at a local restaurant, "Il Turista", located a few meters from the Leaning Tower, where you will taste typical Tuscany cuisine in a cosy atmosphere.

Pick up point / time : 5.30 pm from "Polo Piagge" *
